I feel like a proud daddy. Capt. James, Alberto and Chela havfe done a great job with putting our anglers in the meat.
Good luck to all of the competitors, it's great to have been a part of it all and I'm thrilled that the Dragin Fly put 2 of the top 5 anglers in the final day.
And as of a quarter to eleven Costa Rican time, the Dragin Fly continues to do their angler proud. They currently lead with a pair of sailfish and 200 points for Larry Drivon. Jimmy Vaughan is in second with one on the Reel Screamer, Mainor is in third with one on Spanish Fly and Pat Logue is fourth with one on 1st Strike.
It seems that the bite may have slowed down a litte but it's also hard to tell because we're down to only five boats with five anglers on the water today, pretty relaxing in radio control compared to yesterday when I wore out my thumb keying the radio mike for releases.
Stay tuned to SFC.com, more to follow from the final day of the 2008 WBS Grand Championships!
The 2008 WBS Grand Championships is in the books. Pat Logue wound up hooking another blue right at 2:30 and was able to get the release almost an hour later so he ended up with 1000 points (two marlin and two sails).
Mainor Oporto finished second with six sails and 600 points on Spanish Fly, while Larry Drivon had five sails and 500 points on Dragin' Fly. Bill Easum finished fourth with a pair of saildogs on Super Fly, and Jim Vaughan rounded out the top five with a single on Reel Screamer.
The awards dinner is in a couple hours so I'm outta here. More good stuff and photos later on. Thanks,
way to go pat logue and craig and the rest of the crew. and sam u did a hell of a job again thanks for for havin a little bit of faith in me gettin the boat there
Great shots there Andy! I love that one of the Reel Screamer (74 Viking Enclosed) trolling along in flat-calm water. I've had the pleasure of fishing with Scott and his team several times and it's always fun.
Thanks again for all the kind remarks regarding this year's tournament--it's always a pleasure to run an event like this that attracts such a high caliber of anglers, captains and crews. No two hour captains meetings, no drawn-out discussions about "what if" rules situations, just put your cards on the table and go fishing.
I'll try to post up some photos once I get settled in. Thanks again everyone,
was some great reporting and happy you brought everything to sportfishermen.com!!
