Capt. Rick Ogle on the Mr. B II (57 Dean Johnson) reports: 2 blues, released 1and 9 whites, released 4
Cherin III: 1 blue, 1 white, 2 sails - Grand Slam!
Tijereta: 5 whites released
More fantastic results and congrats to those boats! I have five days fishing starting monday so fingers crossed I should knock off all three target species, fingers crossed!
Fishing is seriously slow - don't know what the problem is. Word from down there - says the Tournament didn't do as well as expected - 12 boats (half locals) were raising 4-5 whites per day, releasing 1-2. More later.

Yeah, that is slow - we fished before the tournament - 18 whites, 12 released in one day.
We "heard" this morning a boat from Aruba won and Jimmy Grant was in 2nd place.
Heard the same thing - haven't had confirmation yet. I know where at least 41 of them are right now - Virginia Beach.

well i've just got back after 6 days of fishing as hard as humanly possible and boy when it was slow it really was slow!
We fished the first three days for a big fat zero!
it was n't for want of trying but the odd fish we did find and raise just wasn't interested!
the bait fish were scarce and the fish scattered, hit the blues on the fourth day raising a pair by the electricity station hooking one at 250lb and leaving the other as there was only me fishing. Day five was a marked improvement raising several whites with a double hook up and missing a few others landing the largest at 76lb and a nice wahoo and a couple of cudda but generally very very slow for the time of the year by all accounts.
I know some of the American boats scored better results but not massively better with one boat flagging two blues and a white but not really the releases of the previous weeks!
Typically my luck!
Still I got the blue and the white I was after and had a couple of dropped swords on the daytime deep drop and the crew worked their socks off to try and find me fish but it just wasn't my week!
Ohh well an excuse to go back and try again I guess! I take my hat off to the crew who were nothing but gracious and despite our appalling results made me feel at home throughout!
Roll on next season I say....I will post up a couple of pics when i get them uploaded for general interest!
My group from Canada - the Magyar's fishing aboard the Mr. BII with Capt. Rick Ogle did fairly well, considering this was their first opportunity for white marlin.
Thu 01 Oct: 4 for 5 sails, 5 for 8 whites
Fri 02 Oct: 1 for 1 blues, 3 for 5 whites
Sat 03 Oct: 1 for 2 sails, 2 for 5 whites
They seemed very pleased.
Only disappointment - Marina Portofino was running with a skelton staff and had no dining facilities. Our expert transfer personnel filled the gap by taking them out to dinner every night.
