I am running a boat that needs trolling valves. It will run 9kts at clutch and I have to use the trolling valves to fish. After a re power I found that I had a clatter at my normal trolling speeds. I had the Twin Disc guys put shims in to adjust where the clatter was and It does not affect me anymore. Without the shims I had a range of .5 to 7kts in trolling valve. now I have 2.5 to 9 kts range and at 4 to 8kts there is no clatter. i don't live bait fish so I have no need for the .5kt speeds.

As for pulling dredges, as you fish down sea I usually slow down and speed up when going up sea. I find that speed up sea does not matter as the fish are usually very aggressive to bite up sea.

The thing about dredges on big and small boats is this. On a small boat you pull from a lower angle on the teaser line and a higher angle on the bigger boats. I have the same problem with blue marlin teasers. On my strike 29 I pull many angle faced lures and teasers and they run great but on the 70' S/F I run I can only use them on the long riggers as the angle of the line from the rigger to the water is about twice as that of my strike.
