Thanks for posting this info...awesome post.

I am heading there towards the end of October and am really looking forward to it. I have never fished Venezuela before but am super stoked for the trip.

Venezuela was in the news today as some of you probably saw...I hope the actions taken by Chavez don't come back and have an impact on our trip.

Any input, comments or advice would be appreciated on traveling or anything else regarding the country, politics, fishing, etc.

Who are you fishing with down there?

Rumor has it, some of the American boats are pulling out immediately to avoid problems...

Anyone else talk to skippers down there? Squidnation?

Thanks fellas, keep this one going. I really hope the trip is not impacted

Well - I just got off the phone with Butch Cox on the Prime Time. Things seem pretty bad down their right now. He had four on and his mate was droppin back to a fifth one while we chatted. I didn't get a chance to ask any questions since he was kinda busy but judging by the tone in his voice and the fact that he was fishing tells me that things may be fine.

We are leaving tomorrow and fishing Wed-Sat with Jimmy Grant on Waterman. The guys I am going with have been down for many many years and have never had any issues what-so-ever. I will post reports down there if possible and definitely when we return.

I've been wanting to go for a while now (I talked with Squidnation and he was able to put me in contact with people down there) but can't get a group to go. They all say "its not safe there" although they have never been!

WOW! I have nothing else to say...

Thanks for the info Bill and everyone else. Please reply here if you hear any news regarding Venezuela or the bite that always seems to be ridiculously "hot" by east coast standards.
