Just got back from Guatemala at 11 last night! What a trip. Stayed at Buena Vista for the third time this year and it was a nice a ever. The staff, the accommodations and the food were excellent. Fished with Bill Pino, Alex (AKA Satan's Chariot) and Bronson Stubbs. The sail fishing was slow. The first day we sucked and went 4 for 9 on sails so we went rooster fishing in the afternoon. We caught one nice rooster and a few jacks. I had a big on hooked up for a while and the circle hook broke in half!!!
Day two we got the right bite at 9:30 and I got to catch my first black. Captain Marciel did a great job handling the boat. The fish bit 15 feet behind the boat and we had the release in about 15 seconds. The Capt put the boat up on plane to get some distance between us and the fish. It took about another 40 minutes to get to the leader and release him. I got a sail and Alex got one on day two. Alex decided to swim with his fish!!! The pics are crazy!
Day three was kind slow. We saw 4 sails and Alex caught one. Alex hooked the Blue at about 2:00 on a dink bait with a TLD 20 and it was game on!! He got the rrlease in about 5 minutes and the fish just dug in for the long haul. It looked to be about 250 or so.
