This past summer Val Lynch of the Cytinory spearheaded a Satellite Tag effort off Ocean City. Through various fund raisers and donations that partially stemmed from the entry fees of the OC Marlin Club/Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club Challange Cup he and his crew were able to tag several white marlin during our august bite. Val just got word that one of the tags popped up. Here is what he has learned. Great job to Val and everyone that was involved with the tagging program. Nice to start seeing some returns.
We just got word that one of the tags deployed with you came off this
morning. It's good and bad. It went about half (~82 days) the
programed
period (170 days). That's a good long duration, still. The fish is in
the
tongue of the ocean about halfway between Nassau, the Bluffs and Chub
Cay.
Very exciting to hear from it and moving along an assumed pathway.
