thanks JFT...........have been fishing with Butch for 7 years now, wherever he goes, I go............have had many prolific days with him.
Marlin Mama...Red Bailey is an institution in St Thomas. He started as a mate for legend Capt. Johnny Harms in early days of St Thomas blue marlin fishing and is respected by all.. I'll say it one last time...any boat can have 2 bad days but fishing was very good overall for the fleet this August moon . Jimmy Loveland post some, but not all, daily results at www.abmt.vi. One last time ...there was not 1 day where 18 boats only hooked 4 blue ones. I wish you had been around the docks at American Yacht Harbour to talk with the crews after fishing. Prime Time Butch Cox has now released 30 blue marlin for August moon fishing. You can talk with him to verify if you wish at 772-285-7168. Good luck with your next trip and hope you return to St Thomas some day.
Prime Time released 5 blue marlin Saturday 8/20 to finish August moon with 35 blue marlins released !
Just wanted to add my two cents worth. My wife and I chartered Captain Marc Blackburn with Mixed Bag Sport Fishing.
We caught our first marlin and it was a trophy, estimated at 13 feet long and 700 - 800 lbs. We were fishing Friday, Sept 2, 2011 on a 6-hour trip fishing out of Red Hook Marina in St. Thomas and targeting the North Drop.
We hooked another one earlier in the day estimated at 250 - 300 lbs and went one for two on the trip.
Captain Marc is the best!
Here is a link to a youtube video of our trip:
Here are a couple of images of the fish that I edited from the video:

Hey Guys...fished the crazy Summer of 2009...some say the best fishing in 20 years...we released 52 Blues...on Sept 2, 2009 we went 7 for 11...went back to celebrate...we thought we were " the shit"...after expensive dinner and drinks...we decide to go by American Yacht Harbour to see if anyone beat us ( we stay at Sapphire with Red and others )..we didn't get 2 feet on the dock and we saw Mike Lemon and the Revenge team had 10 !!!....Summer of 2010 the water was dirty from rain runoff...fishing was very slow...cleared up after Hurricane Earl which we rode out at Nanny Cay...120 mph winds ( but, thankfully floating docks )...when its hot down there its very good fishing...glad to hear 2011 was pretty good...wish fuel prices were better...hard to make that trip again $$$
