Quepos Costa Rica Fishing
Recently got back from vacationing in Costa Rica and got some fishing time in out of Quepos while there. Went fishing one day inshore targeting roosterfish (8 Jan) and one day offshore (10 Jan) targeting billfish with Capt John on Stress Reeliever.
The roosters were a lot of fun on live bait and light tackle and the sailfish in Costa Rica are muy grande. We went 4 for 7 on sailfish bites and 1 for 1 on marlin. Saw plenty of sailfish free jumping in the area and had sails following hooked fish to the boat. The black marlin was caught stand-up after one hour and 45 minutes on 30# test main with 80# leader. Unfortunately after the fourth time to leader the fish made a last minute zig and jumped towards the transom and was wounded by the prop as Capt tried to get out of the way of the incoming bill. The fish would not have survived, so we kept it to feed many Costa Rican families. A release would have been better, but there was nothing that could have been done differently.
Cost Rica was beautiful with a very diverse ecosystem and many species living within the rain forests. The non-fishing pics are of an eyelash viper and a 3-toed sloth.
PS - I should get my sportfisherman.com credits back for getting pictures with my sportfisherman.com T-shirt and jumping fish in the same frame. I'd settle for a new shirt.
Enjoy the pics....

Sail boats suck
Great pics and congrats on the marlin. Big roosters, too. I was thinking about going down there but I thought it was all sails!
