Pics - Wahoo - Can't Catch Them on Circle Hooks

I have been reading on other forums that meatfishing, particularly wahoo fishing is difficult to impossible on circle hooks.

    hmmmmmmmmmmm

The first one was the best wahoo bite I have seen in quite a while

Fish came up on the short rigger 4 feet from the boat. I had just put the bait out and allen had not yet put the bait in the rigger clip. I looked back to see the snake scream at my bait at 50mph. WHAT A BITE

We also added two yellowfins and a dolphin on circle hooks that day. Not to mention 14 whites.

Next day we started out with a 70lber on a circle hook/dink bait

Then came a this 78lb slob of a wahoo. Again - on the dink rod right short rigger

Now I know these fish were just dumb luck. We actually had about 15 wahoo bites on that morning and only ended up with a couple. But they sure were a nice suprise. Also had something I had never seen before happen. We had a wahoo on our teaser for about 2 minutes. hit the teaser the first time but then just stayed behind it for 2 minutes. I quess he was just waiting for it to die. Eventually hooked him on the bridge pool but did end up cutting off after a 3 minute battle.

    Very cool...those are some slobs.

The trip I took with Trax last year (late Sept) when we got 10 fat ones we had a wolfpack of big ones come up and wreck the teaser and Dave hooked one from the rigger line which he reeled up to the fish. I'd never seen Hoo's come up on the teasers like that. It was a "wham bam thank you m'am" bite.

Congrats on your fishing trips. Great stuff

Pretty wahoos Bill. Send some to the southern. Seems like you all have a lot of bluewater critters rounded up in your neck of the woods.

What fantastic wahoos! On dinks while catching 14 whites? Now that is very cool! Congrats Bill and crew.

    Where's my white marlin loins?
