We have a rule ever since I lost my cool on the adults 3 years ago in the first kids classic. Adults don't touch a rod during the kids tournament. So our crew this year consisted of Nephew's Anthony and Christopher Pino, Nico and 7 yr old Wil Kennington. Our goal was to let the kids do everything.
First bite of the day came on the tower rod in the middle of the spread. Naked dink on an 8/0 VMC Circle hook. white grabbed and let go. Anthony dropped it back and got em on. A short while later Christopher grabbed the leader but not before the white did a backflip and landed right on the teaser that was hanging from the rigger.
Next bite came off a ball as 7yr old Wil got in on the mahi action and anthony finished it up for some dinner
then wil got in on the wiring action with a dolphin. Nico finished it off with a nice gaff shot
then a rather unusual moment when Anthony hooked a bigger dolphin - in the 20lb rangle on a little minnow bass lure but the fish made a b-line to the ball and got wrapped in the ball.
Its bad enough these fish get chased by blue marlin all day long but now they have to deal with gaff wheeling mates chasing them around the balls. Well this fish had nothing to do with it and as soon as the mahi noticed anthony he took off and broke the line. Oh well, would have been a great story had he stuck it under water.
Another great day fishing the OC Marlin Club Kids Classic. Thanks Franky and everyone at the club for putting on a great tournament.

I am sure I am forgetting people, but I never want to "sport false honors" I did give a fair amount of my time to this, but not nearly as much as the folks I mentioned.
Man Bill, That's a great looking time had by all. What a cool way to do it...letting the kids handle it all. The pics are terriffic. Little man on the wire is epic. Thanks for taking the time to share it!
