Pic Report - Air Giant BLuefins, Royal Grand Slam, Big Bass-7.jpgPic Report - Air Giant BLuefins, Royal Grand Slam, Big Bass-13.jpgPic Report - Air Giant BLuefins, Royal Grand Slam, Big Bass-9.jpgA whirlwind 3 day fishing tour has left me, well SPEECHLESS after astonishing success in all three endeavors. I'll start with may be deemed as the most exciting to most of you but i will rank its excitement as 3rd in my 3 day stint. But still rather impressive in its own right. YEA RIGHT. It was fricken awesome. This may be a little long but keep reading if you like big jumps. super grandslams and big bass!.

I got the call from Oftenn ernie and finrazor Mike asking if I would join them on a Giant bluefin trip on the sport boat Http://phideauxfishing.com with Capt Jamie Riebel and Mater Jeff Rieble. THe target Giant Bluefin - The Method Greensticking with a single breakaway squid and 3 dummy hookless squids. Awe Hell yea. So Drove down wednesday and stayed Case de Mike. Mike kinda slummed me a meal that was fair to midland. Just marinated Fillet Mignon, roasted basil patatos and green beans. Holy hell I am not exagerating when I say I was asleep at 8:30pm from being so full.

Thursday moring Raymond, Ernie, Mike, Andrew, Jamie , Ernie, Paul ( i think), Jeff and I headed of to the 20 degree break on a beautful calm morning. No naps on this morning just lots of incredbly funny conversation about hairy brazilean women and Russian chicks with odd fetishes As we approached we saw the gorgeous green to blue break and birds. We set out the spread and I stood at the transom camera ready for the show to begin. It didn't happen. We we get the call that the fish are 6 miles up the line so we pick up and run the 15 minute ride and reset the spread.

For those of you that don't know what the green stick spread is I will try to explain what these incredible pros do to entice these giant tuna to jump higher then the guys in the NBA dunk contest. A green stick is nothing more the a long cloths line attacked to I huge center rigger that is secured in the water with a larger bird and preset distance intervals for squids to dangle in and out of the ocean.

The tall poll on the left is the Greenstick. The squid is a 9 inch http://squidnation.com Squid with a green skirt. The squid pictured is a dummy squid with no hook. It merely dangles from the main Greenstick line splashing in and out of the water driving the tunas nuts until they can't take and crush the squids. 3 of the 4 squids are hookless dummies. One has a breakaway system that allow the squid to be attached to a 80 wide chair rod that breaks away from the greenstick line when a fish is hooked. similar to an outrigger clip popping.

Well the pics are not exactly going where I am trying to place them so I will just continue.

So Anyway the object of the greenstick is to keep the terminal gear completely out of the water. So only the squid tangles in the air reaching the water and jumping out of the water and skipping until a fish cant take it and starts to boil, then explode and then sometimes get fully out of the water. Sometimes attacking the same squid. Like I said we have 3 dummy squids and 1 hooked bait squid. So when they finally get hold of one and it does succomb they get really pissed and keep attacking until one breaks away. that one has a hook in it and then its game on for the luckily angler. Or actually for me since I get to take all the pictures.

    It happens something like this

So I hopped off the boat and raced back to MD in order to get a good nights sleep. Tomorrow was gonna be a big day. Capt Karl biebirich (whatever) was bring up the Maddie B up to us and we were gonna spend a morning hunting the slob white perch in the nanticoke river. We had been reading about pounders and 1 1/4lb fish. Thats almost big enough for the big skillet. So we met at the Sharptown ramp. Well after Karl had to inspect the bridge for safety before he went under it. Read that he missed the turn that he claimed wasn't there. So We get on his skiff and the first thing i notice is the electronic package fit for a .......well for a 32 mirage I know that With the XM blasting and ultra lights rigged and bloodworms chillin Karl, Bill, adam and I headed for riverton. Well the bite never materialized until our tenth spot when Bill went crazy. First a single slob. then a double, then a single. A catfish . BIll was en fuego. I quickly followed with catzilla. Karl was having a bit of a frustrating day and adam must be some sort of Perch are Human Too advocate cuz he was doing everything to sabotage our rigs in order for us not to catch any. On our eleventh move to the sandy beach we realized that Bill had just reach legendary status by catching a Nanticoke Grand slam. THat being a white Perch, Cat Fish and Rockfish. I was honored just to be onboard for such an accomplished. Karl almost brokedown into tears he was so happy to have it happen on the Maddie B and Adam slept. We went back to spot 10 since the white hot perch bite was there only to see that our secret was out. three boats had honed in on our spot. We anchored where we got into them last and quickly started waxing the fleet again. Then the Nanticoke C dock boys moved in. I mean gradywhites with windless and all. I pulled my hat down in embarassment to be on a panga. But we continued to crush the perch. I mean 1 and 2 every 15 minutes. I couldn't contain myself.

The Bill hooked into something different. Not the tree that karl kept hooking. But this had a different fight. something a hair bigger then his 2 inch rockfish but a bit smaller then his 5 9 inch white perch. This fish was a tussel and I had this amazing thought that maybe it could be. BUt no way. Not today. It couldn't be. the fish moved left. Bill swung the rod left, then right, he swung the rod right. under the boat he went and my heart sank. BUt bill somehow finessed him out of the mud and away from the boat. and then I could see yellow then the green bars and My heart stopped as he lifted a 3 inch YELLOW PERCH into the boat. Ladies and gentlemen a SUPER GRANDSLAM. I am choked up thinking about it.

Day three of my fishnation tour took me to the backyard of squidnation world headquarters to fish the pond next to the office. While forklifts quickly cleared the container of new Black Squidnation Squids and the helicopter repositioned two pallets of mini chuggers I took a much needed breather from the squidnation nerve center of operation. Some would call it a laptop. I call it a nerve center. I broke out my broken light rod with a ripped squid tenticle from a natural 12 squid and a carolina rigged it to a small hook. The first cast found a weeping willow. The second cast found the gullet of a beautiful healthy Largemouth bass.

So there you have it. A whirlwind three day tour that ended today with this beautiful fish that was released unharmed. weighed in a 4.1 lbs on the bathroom scale. Ahhhhhh - tomorrow may be the kids tournamnet in the pond stay tuned
