    Oregon Inlet billfish report

Figured I would post a quick report from yesterday's action on my buddy's Regulator, Full Choke. Ran in the middle of a nasty little storm for a good bit of the morning but when the rain cleared it was pretty the rest of the day.

Ran North and dropped em on scattered grass in the mega deep. Hooked up immediately on a couple gaffers and stuck around for 30 minutes, catching 3 gaffers and a handful bailers. Worked away from that area as the charter boats were picking it over heavy and briefly hooked a white only to have it spit the hook. Continued North and had a slow couple of hours with a couple mystery bites and that was it.

Right after lunch we decided to try some shallower water for a bit and 15 minutes after coming inside, hooked up Blue Marlin!! Came up on the short rigger plug popped clip and faded but we made a sharp turn and he came back on the longrigger- game on. Bad thing was that it came up on 80 pound leader, not the outfit we wanted to be using but we took our time. 45 minutes later we had the release. We were just putting the second line out when the only rod in the spread popped the clip. Dropped it back, back, waaay back and finally hooked it. Hooked up white marlin! Fish put on a great show and we had the release a couple minutes later.

Decided to work inside and look for a sail but didn't have any luck. Did catch a nice 35-40 pound gaffer inside though. All in all a great day on the water.

Ended up 1 blue, 1-2 one whites, and 9-10 dolphin
