I think it was 5!

I don't take my camera on the squid boat any more. Too much blood and last time no one had a camera we caught a250lb blue marlin in about 8 min.

Bert-

We ran them w/ a green machine chase bait. After a while we started replacing bait w/ daisy chains of GM's and had no problem getting bites. By the time it was over we had mostly plastic and 1 spreader bar out there. Only for simplicity.

It was definitely a day I'll never forget.

Should have had a fly rod along.

Good job guys! Wish I could have been there! What was the WT? I was looking on the temp charts and it looked to be only about 64 degrees?

Spreader bars were definitely the heat yesterday south of the norfolk canyon. Our first fish of the day was a 45 lb yellowfin on a spreader bar in 65 degree water. We went 15 for 30 and kept 12. Good idea Squid with the pitch bait. We got several bites letting the short rigger ballyhoo sitting in the water when clearing the spread for several fish.

I bet when they are thick like that you could stop the boat and pitch baits to them from a dead boat. We did it once on the Mass Transit and bailed 30 pound yellofins like dolphins. It was a real hoot! We just kept one hooked up and the rest of the school stayed with us.
