Wow, Pete, that's a heckuva record on one badassed fish!

Funny thing with big bigeyes and "light" line. The long standing 30# IGFA record bigeye was, if I remember correctly, something on the order of 323(?)#. That fish was caught by my old friend Stewart Cambell (RIP, good man). That fish fought for something like eight or ten hours after Stewart jumped off of his boat Chunda into a panga with a native fisherman and was towed well out of sight while another big bigeye was being fought and eventually lost on Chunda. This was off of Africa and Stewart's captain, Barky Garnsey, had to look long and hard to re-locate Stewart and get him and the fish back aboard the big boat. The full story of Stewart's big tuna and pictures of him and it are in my Bigeye Tuna Book. There are also some picts of some nice ones caught by another justifiably well known big game fisherman, Roddy Hays, along with some of his perpective on these grand fish. And Roddy makes some killer bigeye lures, too.

Anyway, Pete, thanks for the picture and it's good to see you down there in your special fishin' hole and looking hale and hearty!

Having caught a lot of them, it is hard for me to imagine landing a 300# plus bigeye on EITHER 50 or 30! Kudos to those who did.

Nice fish I wouldn't mind catching one of them when I'm there in 3 weeks. How's the Marlin fishing been?
