Fabulous fish. I'd consider a 50 light tackle for that one.
    Thanks for the post.

Big Eye Caught by Anthony Berado Onboard the Big Fish

    Hey Pete,

Thanks for weighing and certifying the fish. We have caught several big eyes in the past but didn't always bother to weigh them as getting a scale tends to be a problem. This time we were in luck as you were in town. The angler that caught the fish 1 hour 5 minutes exactly is Anthony Berado onboard the Big Fish. In case anyone cares he used a stand up Shimano Tallus 50/80 rod and a Shimano TLD 50#. Driving the boat in spirals is the best way to beat these fish quicker. Keep the fish moving in a direction against his/her will and they will tire out in 1/3 the time. The lure was a e-bay 7 inch Star Lure for under 6 bucks in red/black. The day before the same lure trolled shotgun for a tuna caught a blue about 300#.

About 50 miles from Cristobal and near the island of Floreana. Same area we have caught or lost our biggest blue marlin.
