So what did you guys think of the long line show? I found it pretty interesting. Pig Bluefin! I had no idea a long liner would fight a fish for three hours.

yea, tapping on the makos head, i can see me doing that.![]()
I thought it was a slow starter....
seen the Big Eye in Wanchese before which was cool, and the PIG BFT at the end was cool to see....
I thought it was a pretty intresting deal.
It was cool to seen one of my buds working on a boat in the show.
Was i the only one who saw them throw over that dead baby swordfish? GREAT TV hahaha
I was thinking the same thing with the baby swordfish. I love these shows, but I really think that puts a bad light on them for the guys who "gaff and release" not a big fan of that.

I thought the show was really well done...obviously same guys that do Deadliest Catch. Cool to see how it is done. Neat to see the little boat from Wanchese in it too.
Agree on gaffing the little swordie...why not just cut him loose??? I know it is about money and all, but you're talking one hook and a dropper leader. Not sure the rational there. Similar on the mako. For that matter, why didn't they just keep the mako. It was a legal fish as far as I could tell. Waste to throw back after gaffing him...maybe the commercial regs do not permit it???
I had no idea that they had to fight anything. Three hours for the BFT...awesome!!! I really thought everything was just kind of wenched in.
As far as longlining, I am sure this show will spark some heated discussion here and elsewhere. I say hate the method, not the guys. Those guys are trying to make a legal living. You can't blame them. As long as it is legal, they should be allowed to do it. That said, you can see how 40 miles of gear is so totally efficient. And if they have to gaff stuff they are not going to keep to release it, that doesn't help them or us (recreational). There must be a little better way of doing it. Just my thought.
Show was great...I'll definately be tuning in again.
