Kona Update
Booked for two days fishing off Kona in mid-July, just a few days before the full moon. Starting to get a little "antsy" and trying to find out about blue marlin and spearfish bite. Can't help it guys...just a little pre-trip anxiety I guess. Any reports would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. BTW, I have been trying to concentrate on catching crappie in Tennessee and have done pretty well on that front, but it just ain't the same. Really looking forward to a smokin drag in July.

Birds and bait are starting to improve although many days latlely the current has been a little to fast for really good fishing, however a few days this past week it slowed up a notch and the big girls started biting, 400 to 900+ pounds! then current picked back up to over 2 knots and fishing slowed down a bit again. you should be in hog heaven when you get here in July! I'm getting antsy too!
Aloha and tight lines,
Chip

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Dragline,
Good advice from Capt Chip. He's one of the best over there, so if you can slide in an extra day, you might want to see if you can book him...you won't regret it!

Thanks Captain Chip & Captain Fred ...
... I've been out of town for the past few days, so I apologize for not saying so earlier. Capt. Chip, I did a search on your catch and it seems like you've become quite a celebrity. Congrats to everyone on board for that great catch! It's one helluva story, too! Do you have a website with contact info?

Trip Report
Just got back from a week in Kona. Saw all the sights, ate all the food & had two great days of fishing! Fished aboard the Marlin Magic I on the 12th and 14th. First day's catch was a 150 lb., a 175 lb. and a 550+ lb. blue marlin. Second day's catch was a 250 pounder and also had a real boomer (600+) come up and slash away at the bait, but no hookset. Man I hated to see that one get away! We turned 'em all loose healthy ... in fact they were probably in better shape than I was. What a show and what a memory. Mahalo Kona, I'll be back!

THANKS
Dragline, It's good to see someone come back with a report after asking the questions. Doesn't seem to happen too much, so thanks.
Looks like you had an epic fishing trip.
I love blue marlin!

I can see it's dangerous for you, but if the government trusts me, maybe you could.
4/5 on Blues in two days...seems like a pretty successful trip to me! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
