Probably not if its coming in green, but if its played out I think it would be a secure way to get it in the boat. Why not? Ive seen some guys that cant swing a gaff to hook a barn might be an alternative but then the biggest white Ive ever hooked was maaybee 45-50 lbs. Fritz disagreed who cares let it go he may have been a bit sarcastic and starting to be a bit dickish about it, but so what tell him to piss off and then let it go. There was no need to bring anyone else into it. Do me a favor anytime anyone gives you shit I want you to sit back and repeat "Let it go" 10 times. Then sit back and think of Megan Fox naked, if that doesnt take your mind off it, then youve got other issues and I give up.

Holwachagot thats not nice.... Funny but not nice.

    Nauti,

First off let me start by saying this is a legitimate response and not anyway meant to be an a-hole response (isn't it a shame these days that we have to qualify our responses around here do to all the recent BS?).

With that said, if you think about this in a tournament situation, where lets just say for argument sakes 50 grand or more on the line you are trying to get the fish to and depending on visual estimates get her ass in the boat, you pulling out every stop to get the fight over fast! Often time backing down on the fish or turning into the fish and more than likely if its a white your bringing it in red hot. The more time on the reel the more chit that can go wrong! red hot and money fish = gaff. if the guy on the gaff is that bad he aint gonna be able to handle that goofy ass thing that aftco makes. if the fish has been "played out" as you say than billing it would be a whole lot better than trying to get that thing around the tail.

Capt-d no need to explain I can tell an ahole response from a legitimate one. I definately wont claim to be an expert or even a novice more like a rank beginner. Ive never used a tail rope for anything. I dont doubt you at all and I agree what you said is right. My point was more for Vinnies sake and that other ways that arent always the "norm" can and do work they may not be the best but if they work for you, why not? My response was aimed more at Fritz's derision of Vinnies idea than the actual method. Its one thing to disagree with someones method by saying " With that said, if you think about this in a tournament situation, where lets just say for argument sakes 50 grand or more on the line you are trying to get the fish to and depending on visual estimates get her ass in the boat, you pulling out every stop to get the fight over fast! He basically was just trying to make Vinnie look like a dumbass. Where as your response to Vinnie and myself was just that a response with info thrown in not just a ***** slap in the face. Vinnie does throw out some unusual ideas or info at times, but theres too much bullshit that follows his posts that just doesnt need to be there. I dont blame him half the time for getting pissed, and with what happened yesterday between him and whitey, well lets just say I would have handled it differently but the other person would have been wishin real hard they hadnt done it.

Nauti: Come on man. Don't you guys break'em on your boat. My responses were all meant in that spirit and in fun. If you make a dumb comment about something you don't much about, you deserve to get em' broken a bit. In the immortal words of Sergeant Hulka, "Lighten up Francis!" Besides, Vinnie is a big boy and I am quite sure he can stick up for himself.

You are correct sir. He probably can stick up for himself it (not necessarily you) has just been getting out of hand lately and Vinnie really does get the brunt of a lot of crap. And yes we definately break stones every where not just the boat, I didnt mean to point the finger at you particularly you were just the last to post at the point with the shit aimed at Vinnie, and unfortunately when that happens he tends to take things overboard you might say. Actually if you look at the post Vinnie is the one I was telling to lighten up, he just doesnt take things like that very well.
