Interesting question. I think most would use the dacron/power pro as backing to a mono topshot or at least 30ft of mono leader so there would still be some stretch. But maybe some does have some experience with it.

never used braid offshore but...
when jigging for rockfish(striped bass) this year with braid we had some fish come out with a giant whole in their mouth. often we would grab the fish by the lip to release and the hook would just fall out. i just wonder if the hookset would rip the hook right through the mouth or put a big hole in it. when a billfish jumps with a big hole in it's mouth the hook wil usually come out. my sugestion would be to use a mono topshot.
I agree with usig it as backing. I think the line stretch helps a bunch when they come up jumping. If I had to use dacron/Power pro I would make sue I had a very light rod to try to absorb more of the shock. It would help your hookset but after that I think it is only there for line capacity.
Tim it is feasible. Just remember, Many records were set with dacron. Braid is the new version of dacron. Rods, reels, anglers and style must adapt to its use. I like the light drags and soft rod tips posted above. That is adapting to its use.....
