galapagos report - raised 55 striped marlin yesterday

Yesterday was one of the best offshore days i have ever experienced. we raised 55 striped marlins to the teasers. we went 4 for 7 on conventional. then we switched to the fly where we got to cast to 20 fish getting 7 bites and catching 2. i got my fish to within 5 feet of the leader before he popped off. i was lucky enough to hook my first marlin on my third fly cast ever. the fish was a bit over 200lbs. gary caught his fish that went about 150 lbs. what an incredible place.

I thought you were in Guate? Galapagos is definitely a billfisherman's dream destination. Is all of the fishing bait and switch?

Hooked up to a 200 lb marlin on your third ever fly cast sounds about right. You are living the dream indeed!

I look forward to an outstanding pictorial report when you return. Catch em up and take lots and lots of pictures.

dave we were 4 for 7 on coventional. fish were very hungry but we switched to fly. so 48 of them came on fly and it was rough as crap. so it was hard to get a fly to them. we did manage 7 or legitimate bites on the fly. They were very aggressive fish so i think we could have waxed them if we stuck to conventional but then we probably wouldn't have raised so many since we would have been fighting lots more fish
