Awesome pics Bill.

I'm sure it was pretty simple, but can you give us an description of your spread? Two squidnation teaser chains off the short riggers and 4 ballys? Pitch baits?

when were conventional fishing we had two teasers and 4 baits. two longs and two flats. but when we went to the fly set up we picked up one outrigger. and had two teasers on one side and no baits. we would raise the marlin to the teasers. the captain would say pull the teasers and he would take the boat out of gear. when the teasers were out we would pitch the fly and pop the fly. It was pretty cool when we would raise multiples becasue they would go crazy looking for the teasers they were chasing. and then if they did pop on the fly it was an incredible bite.

While i would have a difficult time putting out a rig that looked like that, you can't argue with results, albeit from a small study group.

When dolphin fishing down in the kyes back in the 80's (i only spent one summer in islamorada) we used to drag a yellow feather that had a double hooked ho behind it- the hooks were doubled by passing one shank through the eye of the other hook- both hooks were facing up and buried in the bait- i do remember catching a couple of sails on it.

Love the pics Bill- i hope some day that i can get back over there.

Last day on galapagos island

Well with our incredible day of fishing behind us it was time to relax and check out the island for an entire day. Gary had done some sightseeing prior to me arriving so he skipped on the turtle tour and island land tour. I decided to forgo the official tour and just went out side and offered the cabbie $40 to drive me around. Much better deal I thought. We went up to some creator lake but it was too foggy to see the lake. So we went to the tortoise perserve. Being into reptiles and herps for many years I thought this was really cool. Then he just drove me around the island picking some wild fruits and tasting them. later that day Gary and I met again to go snorkel kicker rock. Let me tell ya. I know that people swim with sharks everyday without incident but when you are snorkeling along and 5 galapagos sharks come within 5 feet of you you tend to pucker a little. As I swim through the crack in kicker rock I had a wahoo come up and check me out as well. After kicker we snorkeled Lobo Island which was awesome. Every tropical fish you would ever want to see in 5 feet of water. I also made friends with a sealion that got jealous when I would swim away from her. Lastly we patrolled the coastline to take some shots of the breeding frigate birds

So here are some shots of the island and the cool stuff to see. Just a quick note to all serious offshore fishermen. This place needs to be on everyone's bucket list. It is by far the coolest trip I have ever taken. I am going back with my son and hopefully the nick's in March/april. I will post up some detailed info in another post. Hope you guys enjoyed this pictorial of an incredible place.

Next stop - Rio Dulce and Livingston, guatemala and a quick fishing trip to Costa Rica with Howard on the TunaBite.
