If I plan to pull a larger bait, or use med to large ballys on a drege I would consider sewing the bait, but with small or dinks ballys, the more holes that you create, the faster the bait will wash out.

Also, when rigging 50 to 60 baits at one time, sewing the backs is way too time consuming.

LOL, I have to laugh at this one!! Nothing wrong, the boat is onlye a couple slips away from my sons at Enriques Marina in Isla. The method that John is using is the method that most mates in Isla uses.

NEW circle rig

I thought I saw it here, but I may be mistaken. Capt. Jack Caliam or Kalium or Calian from the Fl keys is a buddy from many years ago when he worked on one of Ray Browns merritt boats...anyway he developed a new killer rig specifically designed for circle hook rigging...very quick, sturdy and looks like a home-run to me.
I could not find the video. Maybe I did not see it here, not sure. But worth looking into for sure.

The last couple of seasons when fishing with The Intuition we've mostly used the floss rig. I like it because its a clean and simple rig and keeps the baitbox nice. The only problem with the rig is the occasional hook getting stuck in the ballyhoos eye. That being said, 2 of the best boats out of Cape May that I fished with were using variations of wire with and without swivels. So, I figure it's whatever you are comfortable with and works for you.

Tim, start with a loop at the end of the wire, push the wire down from top to bottom, than a bridle

Everyone I know here in Isla uses the wire rig. Occasionally someone will use the floss rig. Actually Digger if I remember right you son's captain used the floss method his first year here before your son was on there. And I saw him today and he is doing well.

I prefer...

Sailfishing with very small baits I like the copper wire with no swivel, its fast, clean, and soft on the bait however on a rough day it is hard to keep the bait from bouncing around kinking the wire and breaking off....
White Marlin fishing up north I like the floss rig when using the bigger baits it is tougher than the wire but I like a very light floss so that once fighing the fish the bait will break away but it does take longer to rig...
If I had to choose one it would be the wire rig...
