I was told the meat had already been extacted. The drunks were dragging what was left of the carcas.

The fish was whole when it was dragged around (there was a skid line throughout PC from the flesh on the pavement) and it came undone when they went over a speed bump in front of Rudder Village (big mess of blood stains). They also hit a parked car while doing this.

The tail had been dedicated to NMFS for research which makes matters much worse for these kids b/ not only are they looking @ underage drinking, DOC, vandalism, DUI, etc, it has not become a federal issue and the FBI is getting involved. Yikes!

Oh the good old days....It can get pretty boring down on the banks.

As far as the meat goes.....After a 2 1/2 hour ride home in the sun and all day and all night hanging up it is no longer what I would call "meat".

Hey Capt Troy,

You mentioned the "high dollar end of the Cove". Does that mean there's a "low dollar" end too??? Who Knew? Frank

"They also hit a parked car while doing this."

I can just imagine the insurance claims girl/guy on this one...

"Geico claims, how can I help you, sir"

"My parked car was hit by a Marlin, wrecked the right side of the car"

"Excuse me sir, can you repeat that"

"My car was parked, and was hit by a Marlin being towed down the street by some kids"..

"Sir, are you okay?"

"Yes, Im fine, but my car is not, what didn't you understand?"

"The Marlin Part, Sir"

"Have you been drinking, Sir?"

I realize this isn't funny, but I can just imagine that conversation..

Since it was donated to NMFS it became govt property. So it becomes a federal crime and you get the federal cops. Its a bit silly but the law is the law. Hopefully whoever the Assistant Attorney General that gets the case will see it for what it is and dismiss the fed charges. I think what ever the locals do will be enough. I mean yeah it may be someones trophy but in the end it is just fish meat and he can still have a fiberglass mount made. Honestly Id be real surprised if the FBI was involved or if so they just give a cursory look and say OK you handle it.

If you read the story in the link above they valued the fish at $600 its misdemeanor larceny. I would guess the FBI thing is just scuttlebut. Everybodies gotta blow stuff out of proportion.
