    ????

My buddy Tuna Taxi posed an interesting question as to tournaments that follow IGFA rules: Would this rig be legal in such tournaments, i.e., is it IGFA "legal"?
    Here is what concern's him"

    G. HOOKS FOR BAIT FISHING
1 . For live or dead bait fishing no more than two single hooks may be used. Both must be firmly imbedded in or securely attached to the bait. The eyes of the hooks must be no less than a hook's length (the length of the largest hook used) apart and no more than 18 inches (45.72 cm) apart. The only exception is that the point of one hook may be passed through the eye of the other hook.
    2. The use of a dangling or swinging hook is prohibited.

It appears the intention of this rule relates only to double hooks, but then again the words are what they are?????

Glenn - Our first day of fishing in Venezuela was the day after a tournament. Turns out a friend of mine, Jon Yost who is an IGFA observer was down there as an oberver for the tournament. He asked to ride along with us. The first thing I did when he got on the boat was ask if this rig was IGFA legal. He said that as an observer he would not have a problem with this rig. Reason being that it is not free dangling or swinging in anyway.

He went on further to say that the hook is not in anyway free swinging or dangling behind the fish and he saw no unfair advantage to catch the fish by using this rig.

That being said it is the opinion of a single IGFA observer, I have never sent the rig or picture of the rig to the IGFA but I certainly will now to get a clairfication.

Email has been sent for a ruling

Bill, thanks for sending the question to the IGFA. It has been on my ever-lengthening list of things to do, and I was going to steal your picture because it illustrated exactly what I was unsure of. I hope they say it is OK, because it is a pretty looking rig and I want to use it.

Now I have to get back to work so I can afford fuel....but I'm working so much for fuel money I have no time to go fishing!

I did the same thing with the Rico in PC for the 6 weeks after the tournament but I put the hook tighter against the head, I will try your way to. The only thing with sof plastic and this method is the the hook sometimes will snag the head of the lure, no bueno'. anyway great method and tutorial, thanks
