Thanks... Tough day. Hot and spent most of it repairing burnt pumps on boat. When plane hit wires south of us was all the way out but here we hhad some low volt still running and it fried all my 110 and 220 pumps and motors...
Getting em all running was kind of therapy. Kept my mind off yesterday and in the moment. Still melted down a few times. One thing to pretend to be invincible but holdin the tears back only lasts so long.
Power still on and off. Those that were here for it will be scarred for a long time to come. i know I will be...

    Sad to hear

I feel terrible for the innocent bystanders that were injured and for all those who witnessed the event.

On the flip side, this may seem harsh, but why should I care about those who died in the crash. There is no place in this world for those who operate a plane, automobile, boat, jet ski, whatever... like an asshole and in a careless manor.

These people are putting other lives in danger!!! And it usually someone else who gets hurt!!! I distinctly remember a day when I was living in Ft. Lauderdale and some jerk-off on street bike decide to goose his bike to 100mph on U.S-1, T-boned, some poor dishwasher, who just got off of the graveyard shift at Denny's he was killed instantly and the jerk-off on the bike lived! My wife witness the whole thing on her way to work and called me, frantically, at 7am, she was absolutely traumatized for days. I am sorry but I have a low threshold for anyone who operates any motorized vehicle in a careless manor! Period!

My sister was hit by a guy acting like asshole on his motorcycle when we were kids, he was drunk and showing off, she broke her leg and has a permanent scare on her face, but at least she lived. The guys motorcycle mysteriously blew up in his driveway, shortly after??? Just too bad he wasn't on it!

    Hang in there Deep

Deep I suspect you won't feel much better till you get home and hug your wife and daughter. Hard doses of human mortality have that effect on all us.

    That depends...

    Really sad!

Deep - You at least made the attempt to help fellow human beings not knowing who they were and that speaks volumes! Hang in there and prayers to you and the families involved.

Really a shame to have a loss of life and a baby scarred for life due to carelessness!

A hard forty eight later the instant replay finally softens a bit. Swell came up in the night and washed the wreckage ashore. I was able to get up close and personal with it. Touch it. Feel it. Understand it. Some twisted way in my head I was feeling guilt that I couldn't pull off a miracle and save someone. Sitting in the debris field allowed me to look at it for what it was. No chance of anything making it through. I looked at the twisted jagged steel, hoses, cables and now know if I had gone deeper in the wreckage to look for survivors its likely I would have been swallowed up in the tangled web and a statistic too.
Met a couple of the dead girls family today. Involved with Big Game Club where I will be moving the boat for the weekend. Strangers brought toghter by common tragedy seem to form bonds unlike others. I was asked to her services which just the gesture itself means a lot. I still pray for that baby. Didn't looks at the time as bad as it's turning out to be. Transferred to Nassau that night they transferred to Miami burn unit. 70% of body 2nd and 3rd degree is going to be an uphill climb.

Innovator... The girl in the plane was an innocent victim. She was supposed to fly to Nassau the next day and the a-hole offered her a free ride. The crowd that gathered at the wreck site were angry. Close to mob or riot kind of angry... This clown had been doing similar stupid stunts for a long time... Had he survived the crash he may not have got past them...

This is the section I found the body hung up in. Water was on fire, I had no mask, and couldn't really see... Probably best that I didn't continue in further...

Deep, like I said I may have come off harsh and I feel terrible for the innocent victims, and all of those like yourself, that had to witness such a horrific sight. I just can't stand the careless ignorance these idiots have for other innocent peoples lives by acting so foolishly and recklessly with total disregard for safety and responsibility for others.

Bill, it was some jerk from Nassau... The plane N1526T is registered to a fellow named Raj, something or another, from Coral Springs, Florida... he was not the pilot. From what I was told from a couple different people was that the pilot was not supposed to even have access to the plane much less permission to fly it. That being said he had done similar fly by bull crap several times before over recent months...
The girl was a native from Bimini from a very prominent family. She had been scheduled to fly commercial to Nassau to attend her sons elementary school graduation. Instead she made the mistake of taking a "free ride" with that idiot.

It was a little uncomfortable getting on a small plane this morning then flying through rain and heavy turbulence all the way back stateside but needed to be done. "getting back on the horse so to speak..."

As a pilot, this kind of irresponsible crap drives me nuts too. It's a shame he had to take someone with him when he augered in...
