when circle hooking for whites, we like a b/w ilander, any color ilander pro or medium purple/black moldcraft chugger... all tipped with large or medium hoo's behind our squid chains.
I have seen some guys using moldcraft 4 eyed monsters and others with eye catcher lures... lures that swim well at this speed are limited (not even sure if an eye catcher will at this speed).
What does everyone like back there at white marlin speeds (around 5kts)? any new toys/tricks this season?

nothing new so to speak ,but my favorites are a pink and blue seastar behind pearl squids, a blue and white with blue head express behind pink squids, or the old blue and white islander behind the green.
on the express, i crimp a stopper up in front of the hoo to keep the express from riding tight on the hoo- that helps if you are short on XL hoos as chase baits - it still gives the L bait the appearance of being XL.
the last two trips we couldn't get them off the teaser chains. We had to pull the chains all the way to the rigger eyes. Left only the pink ilander pro with a horse ballyhoo in the water. they would follow it all the way in and stay on the pro. finally had to pull them down and out to switch the white on to the flat line.
bill-
we had the same issue. released a white on the right side and then looked over to the left side where the teaser was hanging and there was a lit up white we couldnt get off the chain. happened 2 times that day.
i prefer mold craft medium chuggers with the biggest ballyhoo I can find behind them. The sailfish like the pink side and my green side constanly pulls wahoo in. does not do us very much good with 60lb flouro/mono but just saying.
