Make sure when your rig up a chain of the bowling pins you need to make sure you make the chain out of heavy cable. Those things go crazy under the water and the will chaff heavy mono from continued use. When I fish with a buddy of mine and we are after a blue we always have a chain of dolphin bowling pins of a transom cleat. We have used a fender teaser and it raised fish, until something came up and ripped it off the 400lb mono. Also one more thing you don't have to buy the premade bowling pins. You can make them much cheaper! We made a couple place year out of pool noodles. Cut a noodle into a length. Sanded it to the shape we wanted (same shape as the premade ones).Cut the head or front of the noodle at about a 30 degree. Then epoxy a weight inside the noodle with a piece of cable coming out. To finish it off just spray paint them. They swim side to side about 2-3 ft under the water, and look great. Total cost to make one about $5, to buy a premade bowling pin teaser about $30

I'm certain there are many versions of the fender based teasers, the one that I copied was what Capt. Fred Archer calls "the toad". Cheap, easy, it works, only problem that I've had was when big 'hoo or threshers chew on them, they become less than erect, and no amount of pills will help.

By far my two favorite teasers to run are a green/yellow Big Kahuna of a stern cleat and an all black magnum wide range off the opposite rigger. if its light tackle gear, I'll run two squid chains, one tipped with a chugger and the other tipped with a Braid Ten Pin plug

Jacques ... Tying off a sailfish as a teaser, man that's hardcoreTell us what happened to the poor little Sailie!
Yeah I'd like to know what came up to take a look at it as well![]()
I have seen a great mate who work on the Viking 74, take the williamson little tunnys and make a dropper daisy chain out of them. I think that would look good. As far as lures the biggest i have ever used is a BB Braziliano or a Joe Yee Super Plunger. Never had any real luck with them so i just use squid chains.
I too want to know. I have read many times about wahoo being in marlin tummies... I read on here (from you I think) that a grander was caught with one or two sails in its stomach.
This needs to be its own thread!
As to teasers, I run small teasers infront of my lures, and plan on trying a toad and a big lure I made. Bout as big as a barts breakfast.
I read an aritcle written by Peter Wright about cutting a the midsection fo a wahoo out. Kinda liking making a 3 ft wahoo into a 1.5ft wahoo. Stitching the two end back together and wrapping the stitching in duck tape - I think they would then stitch the tape onto the wahoo. While I was in Brazil I told my buddy Shawn about that rig and he said he was actually the one who showed Peter how to do that and it worked like a charm. He said you could use a big wahoo no problem but they would get better hook ups with the "shortbus" version of the wahoo bait.

Here is a teaser I am developing, think of it like a segmented or broken backed lure similar to the casting plugs but only its nearly 3 feet long.
It also 'clicks' as the segments touch each other when it undulates through the water.
