I was thinking of this this morning for "best damn dessert"...

Remember "Long Johns"? They were long soft pastrys with a light cream center (not eclairs). OMG GOOD! Every time we went to or thru Smithfield NC my dad stopped to get us all a Long John & drink at the store. I have not seen any in a loooooooooong time.

Frank, I completely agree with you on Hong Kong Chef in Venezuela. After our flight got in at 9 PM our Captain took us here and it was possibly the best Fried Rice I ever had. Can't beat the price and stiff pours on Rum and Coke either! Think I paid about $5 USD for food and multiple drinks.

    Best damn leftover Christmas Lunch!

Nothing like Mom's cooking, she took the Christmas ham bone w/lots of ham and made a pot of soup beans to top a slice of beer batter corn bread with a side of wild rice and chow-chow! As far as leftovers go, this has got the best.

Thats too fucking funny! The Chinese place is the best restaurant in all of Caraballeda......... Has the best drinks, no chop sticks and gives the best dollar/exchange rate in town. Not to mention all the strange and pretty sights that enter for carry out food at the bar.

One time while eating dinner there, a stray dog got past the security guard at the door and entered the dinning room. The guard was chasing the barking dog and he was in hot pursuit. The dog then ran into the kitchen, stopped barking and never came out.

We all looked at one another with suprise and asked, "did that just happen?" It was hysterical!.... I was shocked because I had never seen dog that wanted to commit suicide.

My favorite food at Hong Kong Chef was/is the Honey Chicken (pollo ala miel- I think), although Luis Suarez once told me that it was comida de marecon (fag food).

My favorite story from that place involves the time I had my fill of anniversario and cokes and a mouse went scampering by. Eric Blanks' driver at the time was this guy Angel who had some sort of semi auto handgun. Well anyway Angel gave me the gun and I stood up and yelled "Freeze Mouse or I will bust a cap in your ass." Well the waiters dropped the trays, the patrons knocked over tables and I stood there taking aim. Thankfully Capt. Blanks talked me out of shooting the mouse (afterall, no way I would have missed a small moving target after a dozen or so "Venezuelan Style" Rum and Cokes). The waiters brought out a round of drinks on the house and thanked me for not shooting in the restaurant!! I figure I would still be in jail or dead had I squeezed the trigger. I was definitely outgunned by the federale types in the streets with the fully automatic assault rifles...

Yup love that honey chicken, oh and the salt and pepper ribs.
