    Bent Butt short Teaser Rod

anyone have a preference on teaser rods?

after being down in costa rica for a month, i paid close attention to what the guys were using for their stubby teaser rods. some had 1 guide just at the end of the rod, some had just 2 guides.

some had swivel tips, some did not have anything special other than a big eye.

some had them on electric reels, but I already have a set of those so I am thinking about pairing them with 80s, but if I can hear a better argument for going with 50s, I can have them built that way. These rods will prob just be for running through the short rigger pulling hookless plugs for bait and switch fishing.

LMR rods out of florida are building the rods for the boat I am working on, so I asked for their input also.

    Thanks-joseph

Sounds like you got it covered. I used short rods custom built in Jupiter FLa. They had 2 guides and I fished them out of a swivel rod holder. They were paired with shimano 80's and spooled with 300lb mono. They worked well. Where are you going to be fishing mostly? PM me if you want some more info on bait and switching.

we are enroute to cabo now. could have used them on our past couple trips. just finished panama, costa, then guatemala.

we will be in cabo for the next month. heading to soccoro for a while after that, then up to alaska by the end of the summer. then back south after that.

The outside rods are the teaser/kite rods. No need for additional guides as the line is just sitting there. No casting, etc. I like this setup because it is a compromise between kite and teaser rod. If there is an ability to mesh uses, I think thats a good thing.
