    Ascension Island fishing???

I am thinking about fishing there in June. Has anybody been there and willing to give advice. I know the marlin fishing is very good for big fish but I am going to be fishing with jigs and poppers mainly for Yellowfin,Big eye Tuna.
    Any input is appreciated.

    Ascension Season

Wrong time of year down there I believe. Email Matthias Henningsen about it, but he is just finishing up there before going to Columbia and will be in Cape Verde for June. His email is mh211066@gmail.com .

If your interested on short notice I have a charter for the Andaman Islands from March 22nd to the 28th liveaboard.

Currently I am the only fisherman on that trip and I would sell you a spot for a 1/3rd of the charter price; approximately $4,000.00 USD.

    Cape Verde

June is wrong time there. You should try Cape Verde then. look up Matthias as noted above or Zak Conde.
    Zak's web site is www.marlin-cape verde.com and matthias is www.atlantic fishing charter.com.

Matthias caught several 200 lb yellowfins (and a thousand pound blue!) fishing there in June-July one year, but that's a bit of a moot point as he will be fishing elsewhere at that time... unless you're fishing with the local commercial rod and reelers. Reports in the Ascension news letter suggest they take yft all year round.

Fished with Matthias last year in CV. Raised 23, hooked 16 and leadered 7 in 5 days. Biggest to boat was maybe 500, biggest on was maybe 800. 3 granders landed that week I was there including the 4th July Tournament winner. Great trip and Matthias works hard to get you your fish, he's marlin crazy.

Last I heard he had an opening in middle June and was leaving CV late June. If he isn't available there is Zak, or Matthias can point you to Miguel or Freddy (Freddy landed 2 of the CV 4 granders last year).

If you hang around and have any energy left, shoot over to Pamplona Spain for San Fermin (Running of the Bulls) like I id last year and had a great time. Opening ceremony is on the 6th and first running is on the 7th.
