Although we still use jigs for snapper and lings up here...we have switched to circle hooks for Halibut for sure.
The beauty of the circle hook for us is the ability to release the large 150-200lb plus breeders.
Here's one taken on a p-line circle hook setup with octopus.

Heres one to suck up. Dont forget to bring me a couple of them things when you gt here on thursday. They sure is purdy. All on 8/0 gammie octopus circles. I think we jigged a couple smaller ones on j hooks earlier in the day.
