    4 days in Venezuela

Just got back from 4 days of fishing on the Prime Time in Venezuela. Butch Cox was great. Stayed at Marina Portofino and walked to the Chicken place for diner every night. Things are fine in Venezuela and we left the fishing on an upswing.

Day 1 went 2 for 4 on Blue Marlin and a few 20 lb dolphin.
    Day 2 went 0 for 2 and 6 dolphin.
Day 3 went 3 for 5 on Blue Marlin, 0 for 1 on tuna.
Day 4 was the best day. We caught 2 Blue Marlin but must have had 10 bites. We also caught 4 sails. The action in the afternoon on the last day was pretty hot. We had Scott Kerrigan on the boat taking pictures and he got some great shots of marlin jumping. I got a few of my own and will try to post them when I get a few minutes.

Very nice - Looks like its heating up. My buddy leave tuesday to fish with Butch and we leave on the 30th. Hope you got some good pictures. Did you try the suasage plate at the chicken place? Damn good sausage but there is always one guy in the party that ends up with "an issue"

How big was your tuna on day 3?

No didn't try the sausage but they have a great onion soup and seafood soup.

Not sure how big the tuna was as the hooked pulled after about 20 min. Usually I have encountered large schools of porpoises and tuna but we didn't see any and this was a blind strike.

I have been fishing in Venezuela for the last 30 years, usually twice a year (April and November). Every time I go people are concerned about my safety. I have never felt threatened in any way. I also don't go looking for trouble. I have never been in the city of Caracas. I hear that there can be some street crime. I also don't go to local bars other than at the place I am staying. I have either stayed at Mango Marina or at Marina Portofino. I always arrange for a pick-up at the airport through either the boat captain or the hotel. The people there are very helpful and glad to have you.
I have fished all over the world and it is hard to find fishing better than Venezuela, especially for Blue Marlin.
I have fished with the Prime Time,Tiaretta, and the Waterman. These are some of the best charter boats in the world.
Give it a try you will be hooked.

Just got back from fishing with my brother Ronnie Fields. We fished the Shootout and the Spanish Main Tournament at the same time. We had great fishing and managed to win both Tournaments. 12 Blue ones 3 Sails and 1 White in 3 days. Fished a couple days prior to the tourney also. Totals for the 5 days 18 Blue ones 3 sails and 1 white. Brother Ronnie is on fire, saw 30 Blue ones in 5 days had 20 bites. "Big Oh" Capt. Ronnie Fields 561-762-0096

Fished La Guaira in 2007 on El Dooblai, had a great time..4 blues & 6 Sails in 3 days..We went to Maute Grille in Caracas for some great beef and had absolutely no problem...Like anywhere in the world move in a crowd and hire a trustworthy local to take you around...
Returning early September 09 to fish on the Waterman and Prime Time...Can't wait !!
