Thumbs up 10/4,5 Washington Canyon Salty Tiger Report

Cleared GE bell at 2:00AM headed to the Washington with a 3 man crew, my father Frank, Mike from Pipersville and myself, clear nite, smooth ride @ 28k in search of White Marlin, we arrived inside the east notch @ 6:05, still dark with time to leisurly set up the spread and have coffee and sausage sandwiches before starting the troll at 6:50. As we are still deploying the Tournament Cable dredge teasers, "There They Are!!" 2 window shoppers on the short riggers, they looked and left?? How do they expect to grow with out at least trying to eat?? On the troll and at 8:15 "There He Is!! left long!! he missed and came in on the the short, Mike easily feeds and sets the circle on the baitrunner and game on! I clear the lines and we release #1 @ 8:30. Re set, up & going, 9:15, again "There He Is!! right flat, no right short!!, Mike feeds and sets the circle in "Pro" fashion, game on, clear the lines and release #2 @ 9:30. Re set, up and going, 10:00 "There He Is!! right long!! Mike again, now on the TLD feeds and sets the circle, I'm again clearing lines for release #3 @ 10:15. 11:00 mystery bite, left short, I set the circle and the baitrunner is screaming, 30 second later "dink" most likely a "Damn Hoo" (we're billfishing), leader bit off. 12:00, Dad's cooking cheese burgers and "There He Is!! left short!!, I feed and set the circle, Mike clears the lines, Dad resumes the helm and we release #4 @ 12:15, and the burgers are
smoked. 1:00 Mr Blue Suit explodes on the horse hoo,black/red Islander, on the 80 set short, right down the middle, I slide the drag up, Mike and I are clearing lines as Dad dis-engages the trolling valves and continues on, the 80 is screaming, I'm getting the rod in the chair and the line comes un glued, the "J" didn't find anything after a +/- 300 yard run, we got the combo back without a touch and a chafed leader, oh well. 2:15, after a delicious 2nd batch of cheese burgers, "There He Is!! right teaser, no flat, no short!!, I feed and set the circle on the bait runner, Mike clears the lines and we release #5 @ 2:30. 4:00 Dad's still hungry and cooks up some hot dogs, 4:15 we're eating dogs and "There He Is!! left long!! and I again set the circle on the TLD, Mike clears again and # 6 released @ 4:30. We trolled til 6:30 and set up for the nite swording in the east notch in 50 fathoms, had meatloaf, Mikes favorite, mashed potatoes and gravy with bread and kicked back with a coctail after a very busy and rewarding day. 10:00 "Fish On!" and to the boat in short order, short sword, released. 11:30 "Fish On!", short, released. 12:15 "Fish On!" to the boat, another short, released. 2:00 "Fish On!", fish off. I decided to move deeper, to the 100 line in search of a "marker", 4:00 "Fish On!" came to the boat and even shorter, released. Nothing else, 6:00 cleaned up, re-baited for the troll, breakfast and coffee, on the troll at 7:00. 8:15, I look out and "Oh No!, Dad Get Away From The Ball!" too late, Mahi attack, result: 1 bailer (he went back in) & 6 dink hoos, history. 9:00 "There He Is!! left long!!, I feed him with TLD, he comes tight and as he is jumping I hear a "singing" noise in the rod tip and "dink", 100 yards of hi vis momoi and 25' wind on is trailing a white marlin, line got over the rod tip roller, equipment failure, wtf? 30 seconds later, resetting the spread, "There He Is!! right short!! I feed him the circle and again, game on, lines cleared, fish boat side and released, #7 @ 9:30, not the same fish, no hook or leader trailing, must have been a double shaping up, which may have been rather exciting with only 2 anglers in the cockpit. Anyway, we trolled til noon, ate lunch and headed for the house. Final Tally: Sat. 6 for 6 on White Marlin
0 for 1 on Blue Marlin
0 for 1 on Mr Wahoo
Sat. nite 4 for 5 on Swords
Sun. 1 for 2 on White Marlin
    1 for 6 on Mahi
Misc. mia:1 complete dredge teaser, wound tight into rigger, 1/2 dredge teaser, backed over and cut up, 2 pair of pliers, we removed all but 1 of the circle hooks, 1 30 pack Natural Lite. Sorry for the long and drawn out post, but, "we've seen you have'nt posted in a while" and it was a trip to remember. I forgot the camera on the boat, hope to have it back this evening and will try to post pictures tomorrow.
