1,170 lbs. Grander Black Marlin

Boat fishing out of Mozambique, caught a Black Marlin that was sharked , but still weighed an impressive 1,170.

Duarte Rato was the captain. Angler was of course a first timer.

Wow, what a creature.......1,170lbs after a couple hundred pounds were chewed out of it. Congrats to crew and angler.

Intersting: When I look to the actual World Record for Pacific Blue Marlin (80lb class) then it is 1238lb (Stephan Kreupl, Rodriguez, 2007) then there is "only" a differenz of 68 lb.

The weight of the missing pieces would be interesting

Yes, it´s true. First I only had the information about the rod and reel (80lb), now I know that they used 130lb line.

What a beast of a fish! I am with lilarcher....looks to be a couple hundred pound snack missing. Good grief what swims around in Mozambique. Thanks for the report and pics!
