Swivel Tips

Does anyone besides Aftco make a swivel tip for deep dropping or wire line rod building?

Dude... Are you a mind reader??? I was looking online all day and could only find aftco swivel tips. I think we are both out of luck bro. I hope someone chimes in with some more info b/c I am stumped.

Cheers,

Dave

Mind Reader or just.....

.....Cheap! I refuse to pay 80 bucks for a tip top. Alps makes one...can't find anybody that carry's it.

Did you check mudhole.com?? They only have Aftco but might be able to help us out.

Why not Aftco for you?

I checked mudhole and a few other websites via google search. Aftco was all I could find as far as a real swivel tip goes. Alot of crap online with pics of some kind of spring for a wireline. I think it is for some kind of crazy freshwater thing. I dont hate aftco but I prefer Stuart guides personally. Maybe I will give mudhole a ring tomorrow and try to get more info. My buddy has a super stout star rod that has a busted roller tip and I wanted to throw a swivel on it for him so we can use it this fall. It has aftco guides but like you said... 80 bucks is kinda pricey for one rod tip. Not to mention this is kinda experimental for us. I will let you know what I find out tomorrow afternoon.

Cheers,

Dave

See if you can find..

ALPS Guides. They make a swivel top. Just found it on a rod on ebay (the description). Now to find where to purchase ALPS components...Stay Tuned.

Be careful what you buy.....I was also looking for one,and have to replace the "cheaper"one that broke.....the eye on the end is an ceramic ring, that popped out,and chipped.
Without it the tip is useless, cause I cannot find the part or what kind of tip it is.Luckily,I dont really need it,and used a large aftco roller tip, that accepts wind-ons.
Ceramic rings are somewhat fragile, and I assume the cheaper swivel tips, will have these rings in them.

I'm all for spending the money on tools that will last and get the job done properly.

If used for the high speed troll, spend the money on the Aftco...They will last in the long run...Mine are going on 10 yrs strong...The other brands will bust like tooth picks...When they bust, there goes your fishing outfit and more money to replace/fix.

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
I had a deep drop rod that had an off brand (Batson/Alps) on it. It was built by Barbar who uses Batson. Didn't know it when I ordered it online. The swivel tip was crap and the rollers on the guides rusted. I wouldn't be so bitter about it, but I handed the rod to mr batson himself who dinied they were theirs, instead of making good on it. This was at the intl rod building show.

I stripped the guides and tip off and rebuilt the rod right with fuji guides and an aftco tip.

Too bad i don't troll anymore

This is the rod after the rebuild
