Shimano Stella

Is any one using the stella

model: STL10000FA
line retrieve: 47 inch per crank
line capasity: 12/500, 16/330, 20/220
max drag: 65.0
ball bearings: 15
roller bearing: 1
gear ratio: 6.0:1
weight: 31.4 oz

I have heard the larger spheros will debut in 2008 here in USA carrying a 44 lb. drag.

Has anyone read any updates to that rumor

I have 2 stella 10,000 FA's and a stella 20,000 love them, best spinners made. I use the 10,000 for casting to tuna and the 20,000 for jigging

The new Spheros just made it's debut last week at the Henry's Dealer Show in Greenville, SC. Along with the new Spheros FB was a new reel called the Saragosa. If you're using it for tuna fishing or something of the like, go with the Saragosa. Both reels--the Spheros FB and Saragosa are capable of 44 lbs. of drag in the higher sizes (16000 and 18000) however the Saragosa has many more features (too many to list here) that make it the reel to have for this application. For the ultimate though, go with the Stella's. And yes, the 10000FA will produce 65 lbs of drag!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I have been waiting for a spin reel with more than 12 lbs of drag to come out. This should fill a big empty slot in their line up. Shimano is listening to the fishermen....that rocks !!!! Nice addition to the jigging, popper arsenal. Chuck thanks !!!

The super hog spinning reel idea is something foreign to me. 6500Br has long been my staple reel for sails. 950ss on the P brand has been a trusted work horse when upping the game to thirty lb and sharks or whites.
The big game spinning concept I'm hearing dribs and drabs about and its got me thinking about a new angle to some stuff. I guess this would be directed at squid but others advice is surely welcome. Whats the absolute biggest horse in the spin stable. I hate braid but I guess it would have to be the ticket to get what I'm looking for.
I'd like to see something with 400+ of 80 (I guess braid) and 24lbs +- of drag. Do any of todays big pig spins have that capability?
