what type of reel and line are you using? Do you like a lot of tip action/sensitivity and a stiff action towards the butt section?

i will prob. be using a small torium 12 or a calcutta. the line will be 20 or 30lb braid and yea i do like a sensitive tip but with some backbone to the rod. my brother and dad both have rods built by hillyers tackle out of niantic CT and they are really nice but i dont know the blank they use

i think the rods are rated 10-30lb. how long should the blank be if i want a 6 ft rod? i know the blank goes into the handle pretty far.

there are a few "budget" blanks that are good we sell them for about 25$ rated 12-25 there are a few muskie series blanks that may be good. the lami has a few better blanks in the CGBT series |

Reel-Deal, where in CT are you? I just started building rods as a side business. I'm in East Hampton, it's in the middle of the state. I just ordered up a Mudhole 15-30 Vertical jigging blank, 6' and a 7' graphite 15-25 I am going to trim down for fluke. I enjoy fluke rods and will help ya out! I used a 7' St Croix SC3 (avid) for my first, heavy power fast action. Another is around a 6'6" graphite. Let me know if you want to order a blank, I can save you some $$$ with my wholesalers discount
