I have to run 4 ft. From the dock to the boat. but the boat needs to run about 20 miles.

Seriously - I wouldn't keep going back if I felt unsafe. I think the walk from the beetle bar to the monkey bar can be more dangerous then walking back to the marina from Chicken kennedy in venezuela.
