Venezuela Report - Can it get better

Just thought I would share this. saw it somewhere else

Vintage Report from Capt hans

Hurricane Dean unnecessarily scared me away from St. Thomas to Venezuela. We missed a record breaking Boy Scout Tournament and my congratulations go out to the Peje! The Vintage fished Venezuela last week and caught 10 Blues, 41 White Marlin, and 15 Sailfish with 5 Grand Slams. All were caught with guest Jeff Gill. The Vintage has caught 110 Blue Marlin for the year.

Shane - The fall and the spring are definetly that hot months in Venezuela. But their are a few boats that are their yearround. From what I hear the fishing doesn't slow as much but the coverage is not their and the fish are hard to find. Their is an awesome swordfish fishery their is helped by the calm summer seas. I went their only time in May and had 7 swordfish bites in one night. These guys will actually swordfish in the middle of the day as well. Just a note - while the fishing seemed a bit slower in may I did catch my biggest blue marlin ever on May 5th in venezuela and the next day we only raised 5 fish before swordfishing. The 5 fish were 1 blue, 3 sails and a white. BTW - we did fight two swords that night. Pretty incredible that a slow day brought a super grand slam opportunity.

Got a call from Capt Butch who had some guests of the ower two days ago. They were only 6 for 15 but that 6 was a double grand slam.

The fleet did very well on sunday. Prime Time had 13 with plenty of misses. He said the top boats had about 20 billfish.

Shane if he has verizon cell service his phone will work for incoming calls. He just cannot make outgoing calls with his cell.

Fleet did well again yesterday. Spoke to Butch on the prime time and he said they got 13 again yesterday but they are missing quite a few. They have been experimenting with new circle hook techniques.

El Dooblai report

Friends of ours from Louisiana fishing off the El Dooblai with Capt Eric Anderson reported: 9 for 15 Whities and 8 for 11 Sails. No Blues - didn't target them.

Gotta be careful to not actively promote American boats on the web, lest they get in trouble down there for taking "paid" charters. Remember American boats are "visitors" in Venezuela.
