Though Chub Cay is our usual destination for big game fish, I had a lot of people this year comment that although the fishing was better by far, they missed the color and life of our other Bahamian home, Bimini... When I came through there on my way home, I thought my friends were going to cry that I wasn't staying. I told them I was going to work something out for next year.
Though only home a few days from this years run, I'm already planning next year out... I'd like to do two trips... I'm currently trying to find a bigger boat to borrow or lease to fish Chub a little earlier in the season when the fishing is even better... Then I would like to either take that same bigger boat or even my Deep C back to Back to Bimini...
So I figured I'd stir the pot with a couple pics of this gorgeous classic little Bahamian spot for those who may be interested...
The Sea Crest Marina serves as home ... Capt Pat, Mike and Al make you feel at home. The rooms are deluxe and comfortable...
Across the street is our breakfast nook. Not unlike any typical fishing town on our side this little diner serves up belly filling breakfasts and keeps the coffee flowing...
Here lies the ruins of what was once the Compleat ANgler. Greats like Hemmingway, S. Kip Farinton, Lerner, etc all call this place home... Plans are still to rebuild it but as of yet no movement has been made that direction...
Up the street a bit lies the Red Lion... Good food, good drinks and reasonable prices are this place's claim to fame...
Though the Compleat Angler is still out of comission, there are a lot of these little establishments to wet your whistles and get you feeling Native...
Bimin was founded on fishing. Its in the very soul of the island. Maybe its not what it once was but its still good for those who come late May or early June... Everyplace you look the town is dedicated to our finned friends which bring us all together...
No trip to Bimini is complete without a visit to the Big Game Club... Their upstairs bar has taken over where the Angler left off with live music, great food and even pizza!
Agin the town has a great heritage and colorful history... All built around the stuff that makes us a family here on SFC...
So whether chasing big fish or small or just plain enjoying the island life Bimini stands tall as one of those special places... Hope you enjoyed the ride...
