We started the month with an overnight trip to the Furuno Bank. Our 2 anglers from Texas fished to their hearts content landing 6 sailfish, 4 snapper, 4 amberjack, and a very large grouper.

Mother's day weekend the lady anglers fishing with husbands and sons caught two sailfish, one pompano, two amberjack, and snapper.

Guests of Manuel Antonio's Bali House reported their best day of fishing ever! The guys phoned the chef before even returning to the house. The cooked up Snapper and Mahi Mahi, ate Tuna sashimi and shared photos and stories of epic battles about the 2 sailfish they landed.

Mid May inshore anglers, myself included, were rewarded with multiple roosterfish and snapper on half-day (morning trips). The David Burke group staying in beautiful Tulemar Gardens were able to land 3 roosterfish fishing a full day inshore with flyrods.

To close out the month of May, Memorial Weekend the Estrella de Mar fished inshore one day and offshore the next, entertaining our visitors from Texas.

Fishing inshore on Saturday we did not find the elusive Roosterfish, but we were able to land 2 nice mackerel and a snapper during our half day trip. The water was a bit rough by Quepos standards and the ladies were feeling a little queasy.

Sunday Captain Jesus took our family out for some offshore fishing. Early in the morning, the clouds looked ominous in the south so we headed to the Veintiseis. As we arrived we got our first hit and the fishing did not slow down for the next several hours. We landed dorado after dorado throughout the day. Pop wanted to catch a sailfish so we trolled for a bit. Twice we thought Pop would get his wish when we saw sailfish in the spread, but neither was enticed to bite. While Pop was fishing the big bait for a big sail, a bull dorado decided it was time for lunch. Uncle Hugh brought in the 45 pounder in just under ½ an hour. A great end to a fantastic day for 3 generations of anglers.
