This is the latest report from Capt. Dave Dobbins in Quepos, Costa Rica.
The sportfishing has started to pick up with most boats raising between 6 and 10 sailfish and catching 4 to 8 sailfish per boat with a marlin or two thrown into the mix for good measure. Not a huge change from the last report.
Dave really gets going with trips this wkd and will be posting more often with pics. We still have some opening in February and March so contact us now to book your Trip.

I gotta ask.....what boat do have in Barnegat Light? Do you own the boat in CR too? I am out of High Bar Harbor and own a charter boat in Golfito...Small world!
The boat we have in Barnegat light is the Temptaition a 40' Topaz at Bayview. We used to have a 37' named Suey T, did you used to have the Thums Up in NJ? I recognize the name, I think I remember you guys coming into BLBT, Nick is married to my cousin. I don't own the boat in CR yet, it is Dave Dobbins boat. I just run his website for him, I'm working on saving up for boat to take down there though.
The marina isn't finished yet, so you still have to use the old pier to get on the boats. They are making good progress with the marina though. This is the website for the marina itself and they have construction updates on there.

Wow. Yep, that was us.....we caught a ton of sharks from that boat and some really nice tuna. That is the boat we sent to CR. I am building a new custom 30' (same name)that will be back over in High Bar yacht club spring 09'. I should be out fishing on my buddy's Oceanmaster this though, this season. I remember Nick, how is he? Great guy. I haven't in the store at all this season. Just never made it down between doing CR and building a new boat. I rememer the 37, I don't think I saw the 40 yet though. I heard they are a pretty good boat! We should try to get together some time.
Yeah we like the 40 a lot, its been a great boat in the 2 seasons that we have had her. Are living down in CR now? Or just during the season? I planned on moving down there also but couldn't sell my house up here. I bought 31 Bert to take down there and all but now I have to sell it cause I don't know when I will have the money to fix it up and get it down there. Let me know when your up in the area we can always fit another guy on the boat.

I am up here. I run the business from here and we have a Amer. capt. run the boat for us there. I get down several times a year and then I' ll run the boat for those days. Fishing has been hot though. Roosters, Marlin sails you name it. nothing like last year. I wanted to move there but the wife wouldn't have it yet.....the new boat up here we will be doing some charters and I'll run it. Mostly inshore stuff, stripers, sharks inshore tuna. I can can't do the canyon run everyday or even week. Costa Rica spoiled me....
