    Playa Del Carmen area inshore?

Any good in-shore fishing to be had? I'll be on vacation near PDC in early March and would probably be able to fish an in-shore trip but don't want to waste my time.

Any feedback? Just looking for a small boat/CC type of outing...

    Thanks in advance

The fishing in Playa is pretty good actually...but you have to be specific about how you want to fish and what you want to fish for. Look over the boat and gear and make sure that they can provide the trip you're looking for before making any arrangements. Every boat will tell you that they can fish the way you want, but trust your eyes and instincts to tell you which boat to book with.

When I'm there I've got two captains who will take us out to the spots, but I bring all my own gear. My focus is pretty much on vertical jigging for bottom fish and any pelagics in the mid-water column along the ledges, but you can do any sort of fishing in early March: inshore trolling for baracuda, bottom fishing with bait, or off-shore trolling for dorado, sails, and marlin. The run to blue water is only about a mile which makes the fishing easy and convenient.
