the offshore fishing is starting to pick up a bit here finally, after a pretty slow spell through mid November and December, with some dirty water wher you needed to run about 40 out to find halfway clear water'
there were a few days during the Los Suenos Marlin tournament where a few boats did catch 8or nine sails, and several boats had days where they caught 3 marlin and reporting seeing up to 6 or 8, but they were fishing near the 50 mile boundry.

for a few weeks most boats fishing with the normal 20-40 mile range were only seeing 2 to 5 fish a day, and the fish we were seeing were shy, many coming on a teaser and leaving, many not switching off to a pitch bait or fading back to a rigger bait.
but those numbers are now improving , and the seem to be feeding much more agressively

as we move into january, which is the beginning of the traditional peak season here for tourism, sailfish and good time for marlin as well.
boats are now seeing about 5-10 sails per day, a few boats seeing a few more, especially if pulling dredges.(which usually is not necessary here)
there have been a decent numbers of marlin around boats seeing maybe one per day on average, sometimes up to 3 or 4 on a good day.
there are a good number of dorados being caught as well, expect to see at least couple a day, usually about 20-40lbs, sometimes
bigger. occasionally, we do catch some monster 60+ pounders here, as you saw if you read my last report.
we are not in peak tuna season (may-oct), but there have been some around, and they sporaticallyshow up throughout dry season, if you come across a pod of spinner dolphins

Inshore fishing really kicked off about 2 weeks ago lots of cubera snappers moving into the gulf of Nicoya, and a steady roosterfish bite. Capt, jeff Dry on Wing Man on wing man caught several nice ones this month
While inshore fishing here you will often catch lots of other species, such as amber jacks, Trevallys, jack cravelles, houndfish, mackerels, and grouper.
