La Nina paying off in Guatemala
As many of you bill fisherman know, cooler water temps make for better bill fishing. With the change from El Nino to La Nina, the fishing this year in Guatemala has already greatly improved. Take it from a Capt who has already caught a years total caught for blue marlin in just two months. Last year we were battling with temps up around 89 degrees making it tough to raise fish and being forced to use live swimming baits, while this year we are blessed with perfect 84 degree temps encouraging stripe marlin as well as blue and blacks to show up, not to mention the great sail fish bite as usual. Marlin are showing up in big numbers, with any respectable capt able to raise at least one in three days of fishing. While Capts who locate the sailfish, can easily raise numbers in the 30s just 25 miles off shore. Great time for fly anglers to check out Guate, while conventional guys will get more than enough practice. The blue bayou team has just imported another boat, and we continue to grow thanks to more and more anglers wanting to check out the region, and thanks to our LOW package rates. We have mostly smaller yachts, some walk arounds, and soon a new 31 bertram.
I Capt Starrs will be out this new years eve and day for some off shore action. The fishing has been the best in 4 years and I thank the cool la nina temps as a result.
We still have our spring months (aka prime months) wide open if interested.
tight lines,
Capt Starrs
