    San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands.

The last few days have been overcast and cool. Winds have been blowing 15 to 20 knots average. Several local boats have reported catching tuna and wahoo near the island Ecuadorian anglers.

November 1, 2011- The Patricia captain by Yury Gutierrez Jr. had a walk on group of anglers from Riobamba, Ecuador that had never been fishing before. They headed for Floreana to look for tuna and blue marlin. The day was overcast and water temp was around 73 for the most part. Fishing a small bank near the island of Floreana called the “Dumpster” they caught several tunas 30# to 50# that would make for a good meal. Around 13:30 a huge explosion on a bridle rigged bonita set the tone for a decent fight . A blue around 500# took to the skies to give Antonio (Ecuadorian first time angler) a run for his money. The fish was released after a little over an hour.

November 4, 2011- The Big Fish captained by Fernando Yepez made a run to Rosa Blanca Banks with crew to practice and train some of our reserve mates. The seas were a bit choppy and water temp was around 72.4 F. Most of the bank was not very productive until they arrived on the famous “Honey Hole”, a high point on the furthest eastern corner Rosa Blanca. Almost immediately the crew was received by a swarm of 5 stripeys covering the teasers. The practice drill faired decent as they were able to land 2 out of 4 bites. As the day went on they raised 8 more striped and released 2 more stripeys. A total of 13 raises, 8 bites and 4 releases by armature reserve crew on a practice day is not bad.
