Talking Flew Back from Costa Rica for 50lb. Groupers-Snapper-Cobia & Jacks

I was back in the Tampa/St. Pete Florida area for 6 days last week, after receiving the bad news that I had to fly back on short notice to take care of a banking issue that required me to be there in person. I had just finished a 4 week run of 4 separate large group Bachelor Parties that had booked with us and was tired, and ready to take a few weeks off, as September and October here are very rainy and the fishing is very slow.

I was less than thrilled that I had to leave Costa Rica for even a few minutes, forget about 6 days! Well, I only needed 2 days to take care of my business there, but if I was going to fly all the way back, you better believe I was going to have some fun while I was there.

Since leaving a few years ago, I have long missed the days of hardcore, rod bending, line stretching , back breaking Grouper & Snapper fishing with my Good friends Kent & Kris Sahr. These 2 together are fish finding and catching Gurus, and some of the biggest and most Grouper, Snapper, and Jacks I have ever caught in my life has been with them. The opportunity was there to join them on a 2 and a 1/2 day trip, and I was all over it!

We took off from Bay Pines early Tuesday Morning and headed offshore. After spending about 4 hours catching a few hundred live baits, it was Go-Time! Over the course of our 2-1/2 days Offshore, we crushed the fish. Lots of big Gags, a few Fire-Trucks, loads of Mango's from 3-9lbs, a big Carbo, and 2 big Cobia.

The highlight of the trip was a pair of 50lb-plus Gags that Kent & Kris caught, and my 35lb Carbo-raider! Although I recently discovered a great Bottom Fishing Captain here out of Los Suenos, and had a chance to finally crush some Costa Rica Grouper & Snapper a few weeks ago, It felt so good to get back out in the Gulf and do some serious Bottom fishing in my old stomping grounds. That is about the only thing I miss other than a few of my good friends.

Thanks again to Kent & Kris, for yet another incredible time offshore. I am glad to see you guys still roast the fish, and it was great seeing you both again and gittin' er done! Shwoooooop! I can't wait to have you guys down here with us in Costa Rica soon to light up a few dozen 100 plus pound Sailfish, Big Black & Blue Marlin, Mahi's, Tuna, and big nasty Roosterfish.

I'll see you guys again once I am able to get my wife her Visa and bring her up to Florida for her first ever visit to the U.S. I'd love to see her try and bow up on a big blackie-chan grouper.

    Pura Vida!
