    Costa Rica in June?

    Hey guys,
I have been thinking about going to Costa Rica in June. I know it is not the best season for fishing but what are the chances of raising a billfish or seeing a big tuna this time of year? Is it worth going offshore or would it be a better decision to do some rooster fishing?
    Thanks,
    Al

Depends on which part of CR....in the southwern pacific it is the hieght of the marlin run and plenty of big tunas. So, I think it is well worth it. The biggest thing this year is finding the fish. With the slow economy not many pepople have been fishing. It has been hard to keep up with where they are. We fished two weeks a go and got a pair of marlin and missed another in one day with no one in sight. We haven't fished since then. Up to the north there are some fish but it will pick up more for them in Sept..

I've had several groups this late Spring in Flamingo-Tamarindo all the way to Los Suenos that have done poorly. Mostly green water and no fish or very few. Your best bet from June onward is in Golfito region. I have several openings with Capt. Bobby McGuinness, who I represent down there. Bobby runs a boat called the Cazador - 37' Harris with one mate. Accommodations at the Sierra Hotel or the new Casa Roland are great. Meals are inexpensive. The only drawback is getting there. Sansa and NatureAir have the only service and occasionally flights get cancelled for lack of passengers. Air taxis are expensive but go when you want.

    Hey Legend,
Thanks for the info, although it was a little disappointing! We have booked with OSA. We get there on Sunday and fish Mon, Tues, Wed. Maybe we can come across a fish out there.
