Costa Rica - Jaco area recommendations
I'm going to be staying in Playa Hermosa, just south of Jaco next week (12/28-1/2) with my family and another family.
As the only avid fisherman I'm hoping to hook
up with a boat or a couple of guys to do some fishing. Offshore would be great, inshore welcome! I'm 42 and a good mate with lot's of experience from running my own boat ou of Wilmington, NC and plenty of trips out of Montauk so I can rig, watch, clear, clean and contribute $.
The other dad is interested in going as well so it could be two of us. If there is a kid friendly inshore opportunity I have a seven year old who I would love to bring along but will have to play that by ear depending on how long and how far - it would be his first trip out.
I'm looking for local knowledge and advice. What's biting - where to go - who to talk to.. Any help greatly appreciated and always reciprocated if at all possible.
Thank you
Thomas

For a budget inshore trip, you can jump on a panga at Playa Herradura. In my experience the crews are good, tackle can be rough.
For offshore, you want to go from Los Suenos. There will be alot of people in town that week, you might be able to find a shared charter

Second Capt Dave, he's from Hatteras. Fished with him a few years ago and had a great trip. I think he advertises on here.

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
Dave on the MissBehavin...there are a lot of other bigger, faster, boats, but if you fish out of Wilm, you will love being in CR on a Carolina Boat with a Carolina guy catching fish and Dave can put you on them...bills offshore or roosters inshore. Also one of the more reasonable charters in the fleet for a small group too.

Thanks for the info and suggestions. I've sent out some emails and hopefully will at least catch a ride...
