Costa Rica Inshore fishing

4-6-08

Today was a half day of inshore fishing out of Quepos, Costa Rica with David Tonsburg and his wifes son Penn. The bite was real slow in the morning even though we had no trouble filling the well with beautiful sardines. I could see the clear water moving in to the rock we were fishing but it was still a good hour away so we did a big lap around several rock Islands and came up with this nice roosterfish. Penn's first one! By this time the pretty water was moving in and we were able to hook another Roosterfish of about the same size that pulled off rite at the boat. Then on the way home I was re-introduced to a long forgotten grouper rock courtesy of a couple of my local tico buddies. We only dropped down one bait to try it out but thats all it took. David fought this fish for 20 minutes on 15lb test mono. One of the nicest grouper I have seen here!
